Cranleigh & South Eastern Agricultural Society
The Society, which is a registered charity, was formerly known as the Cranleigh and West Surrey Farming Club, and was founded in 1946 in the aftermath of the Second World War.. It was formed 'to promote, maintain, improve and advance agriculture; to promote good farming and the advancement of the breeding and rearing of livestock, poultry and horses and to foster and maintain the education of the public and its interest and awareness in the agricultural industry generally.
Our Activities
Our main event is the annual Cranleigh Show, which is a traditional agricultural show with something for every generation. During the Summer months there are a small number of walks and visits to local farms, places of interest or the Society's own Demonstration Woodland. In 2009 as part of our programme , we visited the Hogs Back brewery, and Crouchlands Farm Kirdford (which generates its own electricity as well as running a large dairy herd). We hold a Ploughing Match in September and the annual Dinner and Dance and trophy presentation is the final event of the year.
